(POSTED Jan. 21, 2017) In almost every way, our 45th president–sworn in yesterday–defies the numerous attempts to label him as one thing or another. Where economic proposals are concerned, the accepted wisdom is that Donald J. Trump will follow a “populist” economic agenda. . .but is that TRUE? Are we getting a warmed-over helping of the Keynesianism and supply-side economics of the Reagan era? GENUINE populist proposals? Some hybrid concoction?
In these excerpts from the latest issue I remind you exactly WHAT “Reaganomics” was — something many believe we will get a “re-run” of under Trump. In the end, I necessarily paint a considerably more sober picture than what the expectations of Trump’s giddiest supporters are.
